Indore Manufacturing Hub Expands With New Hardware Plant
Indore’s industrial landscape is gaining renewed momentum with the launch of a large-scale furniture hardware manufacturing facility that aims to position India as a key node in global supply chains. The facility, developed by a global furniture fittings manufacturer, is located within an existing industrial complex in Indore and will produce advanced drawer runner systems used in modular kitchens and contemporary furniture. These concealed sliding mechanisms enable smoother movement and soft-closing functionality in modern cabinetry and are increasingly in demand in residential and commercial interiors.
Spread across roughly 25,700 square metres within a larger industrial campus, the new plant is designed as a highly automated production unit equipped with specialised engineering equipment and roll-forming technologies. The expansion forms part of a broader investment commitment of nearly ₹2,000 crore in India aimed at scaling domestic manufacturing while serving international markets.Industry observers say the expansion reinforces Indore’s evolving role as a strategic Indore manufacturing hub in central India. The city’s location at the geographic centre of the country allows manufacturers to efficiently distribute products across domestic markets while maintaining access to export gateways through western ports such as Mumbai. Beyond manufacturing capacity, the facility is expected to create employment opportunities for the local workforce and expand the region’s supplier ecosystem. The existing manufacturing unit in the same complex employs around 700 workers, and the newly commissioned plant is projected to add several hundred additional jobs while strengthening partnerships with technical institutes and vocational training centres. The production complex already manufactures a variety of furniture hardware components, including hinges, sliding systems and aluminium profiles, supplying both the domestic furniture industry and export markets. With the addition of the new plant, the facility will produce millions of undermount drawer runners annually, supporting the growing demand from India’s expanding housing and interior design sectors. Urban economists say developments such as this reflect a broader shift in India’s industrial geography. Mid-tier cities like Indore are increasingly attracting global manufacturers seeking cost-efficient production bases, reliable logistics connectivity and access to a skilled workforce. The new facility incorporates sustainability measures such as solar power generation, rainwater harvesting systems and a zero-liquid-discharge process aimed at reducing industrial water pollution.
