India Nuuk Partners Zetwerk For Appliance Manufacturing

India’s direct-to-consumer appliance ecosystem is witnessing a deeper shift toward domestic manufacturing as Nuuk, a fast-growing home appliance brand, has entered a strategic manufacturing partnership with Zetwerk to scale local production capabilities across its product portfolio.

The collaboration forms part of Nuuk’s long-term strategy to build a strong manufacturing base in India while expanding its presence in the country’s rapidly evolving D2C home appliances market. The partnership will focus on building scalable production systems, strengthening supply chain infrastructure and accelerating product innovation as the company expands into multiple appliance categories. Under the agreement, Zetwerk will serve as Nuuk’s manufacturing partner for selected appliance categories including fans and heaters. The companies plan to progressively expand production capacity while increasing localisation of components and manufacturing processes.

Industry observers say the move reflects a broader shift among Indian consumer startups that are investing earlier in manufacturing capability instead of relying solely on imported products. Building domestic production infrastructure allows emerging brands to improve product development cycles, maintain tighter quality control and create more resilient supply chains. The partnership will follow a phased roadmap that includes pilot manufacturing programmes, collaborative product development and the creation of testing and reliability facilities designed to ensure consistent product quality. These facilities are expected to support Nuuk’s expansion as the company grows its portfolio of home appliances and scales production volumes.

As part of the manufacturing initiative, a senior industry executive associated with Zetwerk has been appointed as a Make in India advisor to Nuuk, bringing operational experience in industrial production and supply chain management. The appointment is intended to support the brand’s efforts to develop a domestic manufacturing ecosystem aligned with global quality standards. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Gurugram, Nuuk designs home appliances such as vacuum cleaners, heaters, fans and kitchen devices with a focus on modern aesthetics and functionality. The company primarily sells through its own digital channels along with major e-commerce platforms, while gradually expanding offline retail presence.

India’s home appliance sector is undergoing rapid transformation as digitally native brands enter categories historically dominated by large multinational manufacturers. These startups are increasingly adopting D2C distribution models combined with design-led product development aimed at younger urban consumers.Manufacturing partnerships such as the Nuuk-Zetwerk collaboration highlight a growing effort to integrate product design, supply chains and domestic manufacturing within India. Industry analysts note that such strategies can reduce import dependency while supporting the government’s broader push to strengthen local manufacturing capacity.

For the D2C ecosystem, the shift toward locally built products could reshape how emerging brands scale their operations. As consumer electronics and appliance startups mature, the ability to combine design innovation with domestic manufacturing capability may become a critical differentiator in India’s competitive consumer technology market.
