5-Hour Maintenance Block on Western Railway’s Slow Lines on 5th January
Mumbai: Western Railway has announced a significant 5-hour jumbo block on the slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central stations on 5th January 2025. The block, set to take place between 10:35 AM and 3:35 PM, is being implemented to carry out essential maintenance work on the tracks, signaling systems, and overhead equipment. During this period, all UP and DOWN slow line trains will be diverted to the fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central. This change in train operations is expected to cause delays and disruptions to commuters, especially those traveling on the slow lines.
To mitigate the impact, Western Railway has warned that some suburban services may be cancelled, and certain Churchgate-bound trains will either be short-terminated or reversed at Bandra and Dadar stations. Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, explained that the decision to reroute slow line trains to the fast lines during the block was taken to ensure the smooth continuation of services while maintenance work is being completed. However, passengers are advised to stay alert and prepare for potential delays, as the adjustments will affect the regular train schedules. The maintenance work is part of Western Railway’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and efficiency of the train network.
Regular checks and repairs are essential for maintaining the operational integrity of the railway system, which serves a significant number of commuters daily, particularly on the busy Churchgate-Mumbai Central stretch. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys in advance and monitor real-time updates for any changes in train schedules. They can also check for notices regarding train cancellations or alterations to their usual services. Western Railway has urged passengers to cooperate during the block and stay informed to avoid inconvenience on 5th January. The BMC and railway authorities have also advised passengers to use alternative routes or train lines if they are impacted by the disruptions. As the maintenance work concludes, services will return to normal, ensuring a safer and more efficient travel experience for all.
