ZF Wind Power Hits 50 GW Milestone in India

ZF Wind Power has celebrated a major achievement with the production of 50 gigawatts (GW) of gearbox capacity at its state-of-the-art facility in Coimbatore. This milestone establishes the Coimbatore plant as the largest wind turbine gearbox manufacturer outside China, highlighting ZF’s significant role in the global wind energy market.

The Coimbatore facility, covering over 120,000 square metres, is crucial to ZF’s operations in India and its strategic push into the renewable energy sector. This milestone not only showcases ZF’s dedication to supporting India’s renewable energy goals but also underlines its position as a leading player in the global wind energy industry. To meet the rising demand for wind energy solutions, ZF plans to increase the plant’s manufacturing capacity from 9 GW to 12 GW annually. In addition, the installation of a 13 MW test rig at the plant will enhance ZF’s ability to advance wind turbine technology and adapt to evolving market needs. Earlier this year, ZF also pledged INR 7.5 billion at the Global Investors Meet in Chennai to further invest in the Indian wind energy sector, aligning with its strategy to leverage market opportunities and meet customer demands.

The 50 GW production milestone at ZF’s Coimbatore plant marks a significant advance for both the company and the Indian wind energy sector. This achievement underscores India’s increasing importance in the global renewable energy landscape and reinforces ZF Wind Power’s commitment to enhancing the country’s role in the energy transition. With ongoing expansion and investment, ZF is poised to drive further growth and innovation in India’s wind energy market.
