Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh undertook an aerial survey of flood-affected regions in Shravasti and Balrampur districts, demonstrating proactive governance amidst ongoing flood crises.
During his assessment, he gathered detailed information from officials regarding the extent of damage caused by the floods and promptly directed them to expedite relief and rescue operations across affected areas. Following the aerial survey, CM Yogi Adityanath personally visited flood-stricken villages, interacting empathetically with residents, particularly children and women. He oversaw the distribution of essential relief materials and provided financial support, issuing INR 4 lakh cheques to families who tragically lost members due to the floods.
Addressing the affected communities, Chief Minister Yogi reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to providing immediate assistance to farmers, sharecroppers, and others impacted by natural calamities such as floods, wildlife conflicts, snake bites, and lightning strikes. He assured residents that despite the challenging flood situation, the government’s relief efforts had minimized loss of life and property. Yogi Adityanath highlighted the state’s proactive measures, including plans under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana to rebuild houses damaged by the floods, ensuring affected families receive necessary support for recovery and rehabilitation.
In recognition of exemplary service during rescue operations, CM Yogi felicitated PAC personnel and announced special rewards and commendations for their bravery and dedication. He personally acknowledged the contributions of village guides and PAC jawans who played crucial roles in rescue missions, underscoring their pivotal role in mitigating the flood’s impact. The flood situation in Shravasti and Balrampur was attributed to sudden releases of water from Nepal’s barrages, leading to extensive inundation in the region. Officials reported a gradual decrease in river water levels following the peak flood period, indicating a positive trend towards recovery.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh is grappling with floods affecting 12 districts, impacting 633 villages and approximately 17.97 lakh residents, alongside substantial agricultural losses and displacement of livestock. To manage the crisis effectively, 923 flood outposts and over 1,033 shelters have been established across affected areas, facilitating continuous monitoring and relief operations. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to conduct comprehensive surveys of crop damage and expedite compensation disbursal to affected farmers promptly. In Balrampur alone, over 50,000 individuals and 32,000 hectares of agricultural land have been severely affected, necessitating concerted efforts by NDRF, SDRF, and PAC flood units in relief operations.
