Hyderabad experienced significant rainfall on Thursday, with multiple locations recording substantial precipitation. Hayathnagar topped the list with 31.3 mm of rain, followed by Bandlaguda at 19.5 mm, Saroornagar at 18.3 mm, Chandrayangutta at 17.8 mm, Uppal at 17 mm, and Balanagar at 15.5 mm. Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, Hayathnagar also led in cumulative average rainfall at 24.3 mm.
Other notable rainfall measurements in the GHMC area included Chandrayangutta and Saroornagar, each receiving 14.4 mm, LB Nagar with 13 mm, and Uppal recording 9.5 mm. Statewide, Asifabad recorded the highest rainfall at 53.3 mm, with Karimnagar following closely at 51.3 mm. Jangaon, Vikarabad, and Rajanna Sircilla also reported significant rainfall, with 48 mm, 41.5 mm, and 33 mm respectively. Additionally, Adilabad and Sangareddy both recorded 31.8 mm, Rangareddy 31.3 mm, Kamareddy 27.8 mm, and Bhuvanagiri 25.5 mm. Cumulative average rainfall across the state showed Asifabad at the top with 10.4 mm, followed by Jangaon at 9.2 mm, Rangareddy at 7.1 mm, Kamareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri each at 6.7 mm, Rajanna Sircilla at 6 mm, Vikarabad at 5.8 mm, and Hyderabad at 5.4 mm. In response to these heavy rains, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for the next four days. The IMD’s alert states, “Thunderstorms with rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in isolated places across 20 districts of Telangana.”
