Yamuna Vatika Inaugurated to Restore Delhi’s Ecological Balance and Offer Public Space
On January 6, 2025, a significant milestone was achieved in the rejuvenation of Delhi’s riverfront as the Yamuna Vatika was inaugurated on the western bank of the Yamuna, along the Outer Ring Road. The grand inauguration ceremony, attended by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, symbolises a major step in restoring the ecological health of the Yamuna floodplain. The new park, spread across 494 acres, is not just a testament to Delhi’s commitment to sustainable development but also offers a serene public space for its residents.
The development of Yamuna Vatika forms part of ongoing efforts by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to rehabilitate the floodplain and enhance the city’s environmental quality.
