Western Railway is set to launch a Superfast Tejas Special Train service between Mumbai Central and Indore. The introduction of this modern service underscores the railways’ commitment to improving passenger experience and fostering sustainable transportation links between key economic hubs, contributing to a more connected and efficient urban landscape.
The new Tejas Special Train, bearing number 09085, will depart from Mumbai Central every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:20 PM, arriving in Indore at 1:00 PM the following day. This convenient overnight schedule is designed to maximise productive time for travellers. The service will operate from July 23 to August 29, 2025. Conversely, Train No. 09086, the Indore – Mumbai Central Special, will depart from Indore every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 5:00 PM, reaching Mumbai Central at 7:10 AM the next morning, ensuring a smooth and timely return journey. This return service will run from July 24 to August 30, 2025.
The route for this superfast special train includes crucial halts at several significant stations, ensuring wider accessibility and convenience for passengers across the region. En route, the Tejas Special will stop at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Dahod, Ratlam, and Ujjain in both directions. These strategic stops connect major commercial and spiritual centres, facilitating seamless travel for a diverse range of commuters and reinforcing the railway network’s role as a backbone of regional connectivity.
Designed for enhanced passenger comfort, the Tejas Special Train comprises a mix of First AC, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier coaches. This composition caters to various travel preferences and budgets, ensuring a premium experience for all onboard. The modern coaches are equipped to provide a comfortable journey, reducing travel fatigue and making rail a more attractive alternative to other modes of transport, particularly for long-distance routes.
The booking window for Train No. 09085 and 09086 will open from July 21, 2025, at all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. Passengers are encouraged to visit the official Indian Railways enquiry website for detailed information regarding timings, halts, and coach composition. This accessible booking system and transparent information dissemination are crucial for a smooth passenger experience.
The launch of the Tejas Superfast Special Train represents more than just an additional service; it symbolises a progressive step in India’s railway network. By offering a high-speed, comfortable, and well-connected option between Mumbai, a key financial hub, and Indore, a rapidly growing commercial and cultural centre, Western Railway is actively contributing to economic development and regional integration. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating efficient, sustainable, and passenger-centric transportation systems that support the growth of smart and equitable cities across the nation.
