The edition of the prestigious Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon concluded with a
remarkable turnout of over 35,000 runners who came together to support the
cause of RunForZeroHunger. The participation marked a significant increase of
50 percent, with the event featuring five races, including the flagship Half
Marathon, Open 10K Run, Great Delhi Run, Senior Citizens’ Run, and
Champions with Disability Run.
A highlight of the marathon was Vedanta’s commitment to provide one meal to
children for every 1 km run. This pledge amounted to an impressive total of 5
million meals. These nutritious meals will be distributed across Vedanta’s
network of nearly 6,000 Nand Ghars, which are modernized, state-of-the-art
Anganwadis.
Vedanta, through the Anil Agarwal Foundation, recently introduced millet-
based nutri-bars, offering supplementary nutrition to children at Anganwadis,
including Nand Ghars. The early results from the Nand Ghar network show
promising improvements in nutritional outcomes. To share this experience with
the marathon participants, every runner received these multi-millet bars.
