The recent meeting with the Railway Minister, the Governor of Assam proposed significant changes to the existing Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express schedule and advocated for the introduction of a new service connecting Udaipur with Asarwa (Ahmedabad). The proposed changes aim to enhance commuter convenience and boost regional connectivity, particularly benefiting businesspersons, students, and tourists.
The Governor suggested rescheduling the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express to depart Udaipur at 5:00 AM and return from Jaipur at 5:00 PM. This adjustment would allow travellers to conduct their business in Jaipur during the day and return to Udaipur by evening. The current schedule sees the train departing Udaipur at 7:50 AM, arriving in Jaipur by 2:10 PM, and returning from Jaipur at 3:45 PM, reaching Udaipur at 10:08 PM. The proposed timing aims to provide a more practical travel option for daily commuters and enhance overall convenience.
In addition to the schedule change, the Governor strongly advocated for the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express service between Udaipur and Asarwa (Ahmedabad). Emphasising the potential for increased tourism in Udaipur, the proposal highlights the benefits for businesspersons, students, and visitors travelling between Mewar and Gujarat. The introduction of this service is expected to foster economic ties and provide a faster, more comfortable travel option for commuters. The Governor also stressed the importance of improved rail connectivity between Udaipur and Southern India. He cited the substantial number of workers and students from Udaipur who frequently travel to southern states, underlining the need for better transportation links. Enhanced connectivity would facilitate smoother travel and support the regional workforce and student community.
The Railway Minister assured the Governor that the requests are under consideration and will be implemented. This assurance indicates a positive step towards addressing the transportation needs of Udaipur’s residents and enhancing the region’s connectivity. The proposed changes and new service introduction underscore the ongoing efforts to modernise and expand India’s railway network, making it more efficient and user-friendly. The implementation of these proposals is anticipated to significantly improve the travel experience for commuters and promote regional economic growth.
