Uttarakhand Sees Major Rail Boost with Deoband-Roorkee Line, Himalayan Tunnels Progress
Dehradun, the gateway to Uttarakhand, is poised for a significant transformation with the sanctioning of three new railway lines valued at over ₹40,384 crore. These projects represent a monumental leap forward in connecting the state’s challenging terrain, promising to enhance mobility and foster sustainable economic development. The ambitious plan is set to improve connectivity to key religious and tourist destinations, ensuring that the state’s natural and cultural heritage becomes more accessible to a wider populace. A cornerstone of this infrastructural push is the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag new rail line, a project entirely within Uttarakhand’s boundaries. This prestigious undertaking is a testament to engineering prowess, navigating the formidable Himalayan geology to link Rishikesh with Devprayag and Karnaprayag.
