In a decisive move signalling a strong commitment towards holistic and environmentally conscious progress, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has sanctioned a substantial allocation of ₹350 crore for a spectrum of development initiatives spanning all 70 constituencies within the state.
This financial impetus, channelled through the MLA Fund Scheme for the fiscal year 2025-26, earmarks ₹500 lakh for each Member of the Legislative Assembly to spearhead crucial infrastructure projects, with a discernible emphasis on sustainability and equitable growth. The fund distribution reflects a proportional allocation catering to the diverse demographics of the state, with 78 percent designated for General constituencies, 19 percent for Scheduled Caste constituencies, and 3 percent for Scheduled Tribe constituencies, underscoring an inclusive approach to regional development. The sanctioned projects underscore a strategic focus on enhancing connectivity and ensuring the safety of transport networks, vital for the socio-economic fabric of the Himalayan state. In the Pauri Garhwal region, a noteworthy allocation of ₹3.71 crore has been earmarked for the construction of a new motor road connecting Dehalchori to the revered Kanda temple via Chamapani-Dhaulkandi within the Pauri assembly constituency. This initiative promises to improve accessibility for local communities and pilgrims alike, fostering economic activity while respecting the ecological sensitivity of the area.
Further bolstering infrastructure in the Haridwar district, ₹5.44 crore has been greenlit for the construction of a 36-meter span pre-stressed RCC bridge over the Pathri Roh river near Sukarasa village, situated along the crucial Pathri to Bahadarabad road in the Haridwar rural constituency. This bridge will not only enhance transportation efficiency but also aims to be resilient to the region’s environmental conditions, reflecting a move towards durable and sustainable infrastructure. Recognising the paramount importance of road safety, ₹4.45 crore has been allocated for comprehensive road safety works along the Khankra Chhatikhal motor road in the Rudraprayag district. This investment in ensuring safer transit aligns with a broader vision of responsible development that prioritises the well-being of the local populace and the preservation of the region’s natural beauty.
In a significant step towards enhancing accessibility to pilgrimage sites and promoting sustainable tourism, ₹7.28 crore has been approved for the construction of a suspension bridge on the pedestrian route leading to the revered Panchkedar Shri Masta Madmaheshwar temple in the Ukhimath block of the Kedarnath constituency. This project not only facilitates easier access for devotees but also employs a construction method that minimises environmental impact in a sensitive ecological zone. Additionally, ₹3.61 crore has been allocated for the improvement and asphalting of the Syalgi-Juladgaon-Dodak-Thapla motor road in the Pratapnagar constituency of the Tehri Garhwal district, aiming to provide smoother and more resilient transportation infrastructure for the local inhabitants. Beyond transportation infrastructure, the development plan also addresses essential urban needs with a focus on equitable housing. ₹2.18 crore has been sanctioned for electricity supply work for the Manpur-Kashipur residential project under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). This initiative aims to provide reliable and sustainable energy access to affordable housing projects, contributing to the creation of inclusive and well-serviced urban centres.
In a parallel development highlighting the state’s commitment to fiscal prudence and efficient governance, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction as Uttarakhand secured the second position for financial performance among smaller states in a recent Financial Express ranking. This achievement, attributed to the state’s effective policies, diligent execution, and the trust of its citizens, underscores a conducive environment for the implementation of these development projects. The administration’s emphasis on financial discipline, coupled with advancements in education, healthcare, digital services, and justice, lays a strong foundation for sustainable and equitable growth across the state. The current developmental push, therefore, is not merely about infrastructure but about fostering a resilient and inclusive ecosystem for the future of Uttarakhand.
