Urban Neglect Arundhathi Enclave Struggles Amidst Civic Failures

Arundhathi Enclave, a gated community nestled approximately 30 km from Hyderabad in ECIL Bandlaguda near Keesara, portrays a stark image of urban neglect and municipal disregard. Despite falling under the purview of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Dammaiguda Municipality, this residential area, comprising around 80 homes, grapples with a multitude of systemic failures that have exacerbated living conditions for its inhabitants.

Upon entering Arundhathi Enclave, visitors are greeted not by the tranquility of a suburban oasis, but by the overwhelming stench of uncollected garbage and swarms of mosquitoes. The community’s infrastructure, seemingly frozen in a state of decay, paints a picture of abandonment with marshy roads, overgrown trees encroaching dangerously close to high tension power lines, and unchecked greenery sprouting across the landscape.
Residents’ grievances echo a tale of systemic neglect and inadequate governance. Foremost among their concerns is the acute shortage of potable water, exacerbated by non-functional municipal pipelines, forcing reliance on costly alternatives such as mineral water cans and private water purifiers tapping into underground reserves.

The plight doesn’t end there; erratic power supply plagues the enclave due to the absence of a dedicated transformer, leading to frequent disruptions and damages to household appliances. Additionally, the absence of proper approach roads, street lighting, and sanitation facilities further compounds the residents’ woes, compelling them to pool resources for basic upkeep tasks. Security concerns loom large as well, particularly for women residents who cite incidents of unauthorized individuals and drug activity infiltrating the community, highlighting a glaring gap in public safety measures. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, tangible relief remains elusive for the residents of Arundhathi Enclave, underscoring a pressing need for immediate civic intervention to rectify these persistent infrastructural deficiencies and restore dignity to community living.
