UPS Enhances India-Germany Freight Network

UPS has expanded its airfreight operations between India and Germany by adding an extra weekly freighter flight from Delhi to its Cologne hub. This move aims to meet the growing demand for Indian goods in European and American markets.

The additional flight, operated using one of UPS’s Boeing 747-8 freighter aircraft, will double the company’s airfreight capacity on the Delhi-Cologne route. This expansion is in response to increasing demand from sectors such as automotive, industrial manufacturing, retail, and healthcare.

From Cologne, cargo can be transported to the United States, one of India’s largest trading partners. This strategic move aligns with the surge in demand from India, driven by policy reforms, a push for manufacturing competitiveness, and improved access to international markets. UPS has been investing in its India operations in recent years. In 2022, the company opened an air express operation at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and doubled capacity at its Delhi facility.

Additionally, UPS opened a temperature-controlled cross-dock facility in Hyderabad and partnered with India-based travel conglomerate InterGlobe Enterprises to launch the delivery firm Movin. This expansion underscores UPS’s commitment to enhancing trade opportunities between India and Europe, providing businesses with faster and more reliable logistics solutions to meet the growing demand in international markets.
