UP Breaks Two World Records in Road Building in Just 24 Hours
Uttar Pradesh has set two world records in road construction within just 24 hours, winning recognition in the Golden Book of World Records, Asia Book of Records, and Indian Book of Records.
The records include the construction of a 10-kilometre metal crash barrier and the laying of 34.24 lane kilometres of bituminous concrete road—both completed in a single day. The milestone was achieved as part of the Ganga Motorway Project between Hardoi and Unnao districts. Operations began at 5 am on May 17 and concluded by 5 am on May 18. The construction effort included the use of 20,105 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete, covering a total area of 171,210 square metres. The crash barrier was installed by Road Shield Private Limited, an ancillary firm of Gujarat-based Patel Infrastructure Ltd. Patel Infrastructure Managing Director Arvind Patel called the achievement a reflection of Indian engineering prowess and said it demonstrated the strength of the country’s infrastructure capabilities. “This is not just a record; it’s a reflection of Indian engineering brilliance and our team’s unwavering spirit,” Patel said in a statement.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to social media to applaud the accomplishment, attributing the success to strategic planning, technical skill, and dedicated teamwork under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described the effort as a step toward making Uttar Pradesh an infrastructure state of global standards. The Ganga Motorway is India’s longest state-owned motorway, and the project’s Group-3 segment has now become a benchmark for rapid and large-scale infrastructure development.
The achievement is being seen as a significant boost to India’s push for high-speed road connectivity and serves as a model for similar projects nationwide.
