Union Minister Jual Oram Suffers Minor Injuries at Damoh Station

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram sustained minor injuries early Saturday morning after slipping while attempting to board the Gondwana Express at Damoh railway station in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident occurred around 3:30 AM when the minister, who was travelling from Delhi to Jabalpur, tried to board the moving train. He lost his footing and fell on the platform, failing to get onto the train. Immediately following the mishap, station staff and his security personnel launched a search across the premises and nearby trains to locate him. It was later confirmed that Minister Oram had not boarded the Gondwana Express and remained at the Damoh station. He later resumed his journey on the Sampark Kranti Express and reached Jabalpur on Sunday morning. Upon arrival at the Circuit House in Jabalpur, railway doctors administered first aid. The minister had sustained bruises on both knees but remained in stable condition. “There is nothing to worry about. It was a small accident and I am fine now,” Oram said while speaking to the media, adding that rumours should be disregarded.

The incident raised questions about boarding safety at railway stations, particularly during early morning hours. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Madhur Verma confirmed that the railway department is taking the matter seriously and will review station safety protocols. While no official lapse has been cited yet, officials indicated that crowd control and train timing communication would be part of the safety review. The minister’s supporters and local officials in Jabalpur expressed relief upon learning that he was safe and receiving proper medical care. Despite the early setback, Minister Oram continued his onward journey from Jabalpur to his next destination without further complications. His resilience and swift recovery drew praise from party members and constituents alike.

As the railway department begins its assessment of the incident, safety measures and boarding assistance protocols are likely to come under renewed scrutiny—especially for VIP travellers and during low-staffed night hours.
