Train Services Hit by Mega Block on December 29
Mumbai commuters are advised to plan ahead as Central Railway has announced a significant mega block on December 29, 2024, which will disrupt local train services on both the Central and Harbour lines. The scheduled maintenance and engineering work are set to take place during the day, affecting travel on crucial suburban routes.
The block will specifically affect the UP and DOWN slow lines between CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) and Vidyavihar stations from 10:55 AM to 3:25 PM. During this period, several important services will be diverted. Down slow trains departing CSMT between 10:48 AM and 3:18 PM will be rerouted onto the down fast line, making stops at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla before switching back to the down slow line at Vidyavihar. Similarly, up slow services departing Ghatkopar from 10:19 AM to 3:19 PM will be diverted onto the up fast line, stopping at stations such as Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla.
Additionally, the Harbour Line services between Panvel and Vashi stations will be blocked from 11:05 AM to 4:05 PM. This means that up Harbour Line services towards CSMT, departing from Panvel between 10:33 AM and 3:49 PM, and down Harbour Line services to Panvel/Belapur, departing from CSMT between 9:45 AM and 3:12 PM, will be cancelled. The Trans-Harbour Line will also experience disruptions, with up services towards Thane departing from Panvel between 11:02 AM and 3:53 PM, and down services to Panvel departing from Thane between 10:01 AM and 3:20 PM being cancelled.
However, to assist passengers, special local trains will operate on the CSMT-Vashi section during the block. Additionally, Trans-Harbour Line services will remain available between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations. For commuters travelling on the PORT line, services between Belapur/Nerul and Uran will continue without interruption during the block. These mega blocks are part of routine maintenance efforts essential for the upkeep of railway infrastructure and passenger safety. Central Railway has requested passengers to bear with the inconvenience caused during this period and to plan their travels accordingly.
