Tirupati Set To Host India Largest PCB Plant With 1800 Crore Investment

Tirupati is poised to emerge as a cornerstone in India’s electronic manufacturing roadmap with a ₹1,800 crore integrated facility planned to produce the country’s largest multi-layer PCB and CCL units. Backed by a Chennai-based firm and strategic Korean partnership, the plant will be operational by 2026–27, aligning with national goals of self-reliance, import reduction, and green industrial growth in electronics.

This landmark initiative reflects a pivotal shift in India’s ambition to become self-reliant in high-tech manufacturing while advancing the central tenets of green, resilient, and inclusive industrial development. Strategically located near Tirupati and in proximity to Chennai’s robust supply chain ecosystem, the facility will serve as a crucial enabler for India’s growing demand for new-age electronics across automotive, medical, energy, and consumer tech sectors. The project’s focus on domestic PCB and CCL production also marks a milestone in localising complex inputs crucial for energy-efficient applications in electric mobility and smart infrastructure. According to senior officials associated with the development, the plant is part of a larger plan to deepen India’s electronics value chain while enabling advanced research in PCB technology.

The company is in the process of securing approvals under the Centre’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and has initiated talks with a South Korean technology partner with expertise in manufacturing circuit boards for automobiles and IT-enabled devices. This partnership is expected to bring advanced production capabilities and design innovation to the Indian manufacturing landscape. The manufacturing facility will include an in-house R&D wing that supports the development of application-specific PCBs catering to verticals such as smart metering, healthcare equipment, and clean mobility. The scale of the project suggests a potential multiplier effect on local employment and skill creation, particularly as Andhra Pradesh actively positions itself as a semiconductor and electronics manufacturing destination. The state government, officials said, is considering a policy package that may include subsidies for capital investment, skilled workforce training, and energy use incentives to facilitate the plant’s establishment.

A crucial element of the facility is its backward integration with copper clad laminate production. CCL, a base material in multilayer PCBs, is largely imported in India. By manufacturing CCL in-house, the project is designed to address vulnerabilities in the supply chain and lower costs, enhancing the competitiveness of Indian-made circuit boards. As India accelerates efforts to build green and smart cities, the demand for PCBs and semiconductor components is expected to rise exponentially. Industry experts believe this proposed plant can catalyse India’s domestic capability, reduce electronics imports, and establish a foundation for export competitiveness in the broader Asia-Pacific region. With sustainability and self-reliance embedded in the project’s goals, the Tirupati facility may set a precedent for how tech-manufacturing can align with net-zero ambitions and just transition imperatives.

The proposed factory is expected to start operations by 2026–27, subject to approvals and infrastructure readiness. If executed on time, it will place Tirupati and the broader southern corridor of Andhra Pradesh on the global map of sustainable electronics manufacturing, helping India meet both domestic needs and international demands for green electronics.
