Timely Processing Mandates Introduced by AMC

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced a new circular mandating stringent deadlines for various departmental responses. The directive, issued by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner on Friday, aims to streamline the handling of applications related to development permissions, property tax clearances, impact fees for regularising illegal constructions, and renovations in the Walled City area.

The circular stipulates that departmental officials must provide their opinions on applications within specified time frames to ensure efficiency and accountability. Failure to adhere to these deadlines will result in show-cause notices to the concerned officials. This move comes in response to mounting complaints about delays, particularly from AMC’s property tax department, Gruda Cell, and urban development division, which were highlighted during a recent standing committee meeting. According to the new guidelines, opinions on property tax dues are required to be given within seven to fifteen days. For applications seeking no-dues certificates, responses must be issued within seven days. If a property has not been assessed, an opinion must be provided within fifteen days of receiving the application. The circular also demands that betterment charge payment challans be prepared within ten days of application receipt if there is a final Town Planning (TP) scheme in place.

For possession changes, scheme implementations, or site condition assessments, officials must provide their opinions within seven to ten days. Applications for renovations or modifications of structures in the Walled City, particularly those connected by common walls, must be addressed with a decision on T-girder installations within fifteen days, followed by submission for the Deputy Municipal Commissioner’s approval. The new procedures include specific deadlines for development permissions, which must be issued within three days of approval, and ward inspectors are required to complete their processes within ten days. If any documents are missing, notification to the applicant must occur within seven days, with a decision required within three days of receiving the missing documents.
