Thane Residents to Face Power Outage for Metro Rail Work

Residents in certain parts of Thane will experience a brief power outage this weekend, as Mahavitaran has announced a planned disruption to facilitate critical infrastructure work for the Mumbai Metro Rail project. The outage, scheduled to last one hour, is part of the relocation process for four major power lines crucial to the metro project: the 220 kV Kharbav-Kolshet, 220 kV Roma-Kolshet, 100 kV Padgha-Kolshet, and 100 kV Vasai-Kolshet lines. The relocation work is being undertaken to improve the reliability of the electrical infrastructure and to make way for the metro project’s ongoing development.

The power outage will occur from midnight Friday to 1:00 am Saturday and will affect several localities within the Wagle Estate division in Thane. Areas impacted by the disruption include Vasant Vihar, MHADA, Lokpuram, Dharmaveer Nagar, Lok Upvan, Nalpada, Gandhi Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Hiranandani Meadows, Garden Estate, Hill Garden, Kothari, Hyde Park, Neelkanth, Tikuji-ni-Wadi Road, Manpada, Brahmand, Hiranandani Estate, Patlipada, Samata Nagar, Dongripada, Waghbil Naka, Kavesar, Anand Nagar, Lodha, Kasarvadavli, Haware City, and Owale. In a statement issued by Mahavitaran on Wednesday, officials urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to cooperate during the scheduled outage and take necessary precautions.

The relocation work, which is a part of the ongoing metro project, is aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure, enhancing urban connectivity, and ensuring a reliable power supply in the long term. “We request residents to plan accordingly and minimize any inconvenience during the brief outage. The metro project is a significant step forward in the city’s development, and this temporary disruption is crucial for its successful completion,” said an officer from Mahavitaran. With the metro project set to transform Thane’s connectivity with Mumbai, this work is considered essential for the successful execution of the new metro lines. As the city moves towards modernizing its transport infrastructure, such disruptions, though inconvenient, are necessary for long-term improvements.
