Thane has officially entered Mumbai’s expanding metro network with the commencement of Phase 1 trial runs on the pioneering Mumbai Metro Line 9, connecting Dahisar (East) and Kashigaon.

This landmark event marks the inauguration of the first-ever metro corridor to serve the Thane district, signifying a significant step towards enhanced regional connectivity and the promotion of sustainable urban mobility across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The 4.4-kilometre Phase 1 stretch, encompassing four key stations, showcases an innovative double-decker infrastructure, seamlessly integrating both a metro line and vehicular flyovers on a shared viaduct – a groundbreaking engineering feat within the MMR.
