Thane Gets 800 Meter Flyover Metro Line 4 Advances For Seamless Travel

Thane has seen the inauguration of an 800-meter-long flyover, while progress on Metro Line 4 continues apace. These twin developments aim to drastically reduce traffic congestion and enhance seamless transportation, fostering more efficient and sustainable urban mobility for the region’s growing population.

Maharashtra’s Transport Minister recently inaugurated the first phase of the Kasarvadavli Flyover, an 800-meter-long structure now open for public use. This elevated flyway, alongside a 2×2 lane underpass, is designed to accommodate over 73,000 vehicles daily, significantly easing traffic chaos previously experienced at the Ghodbunder junction on the Thane–Gaimukh route. Phase 2 of the flyover, connecting Gaimukh back to Thane, is set to benefit the public after the monsoon season.

Running parallel to this new flyover is the under-construction Metro Line 4, a 32.3 km elevated metro line stretching from Wadala to Gaimukh, featuring 30 planned stations. While not yet inaugurated, major civil works are in advanced stages. Engineers recently achieved a significant milestone at Kapurbawdi station, installing giant U-girders weighing nearly 98 tonnes in a single night. This rapid progress sets the stage for trial runs, expected to commence on a 10 km stretch between Cadbury Junction and Gaimukh later this year.

These infrastructure projects are pivotal for Thane’s urban development. They promise reduced travel times, improved connectivity, and a transition towards more sustainable transport options. Their progression underscores a commitment to creating a well-connected, efficient, and future-ready metropolitan area for all residents.
