Thane Faces 12-Hour Water Cut Tomorrow
The Thane Municipal Corporation has announced a planned 12-hour water supply shutdown across several key areas of Thane city, Kalwa, and Mumbra on Thursday, 16th January 2025. The shutdown, scheduled from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, comes as the municipal authorities address a serious leakage issue in the air valve of the main water pipeline near the Kalwa tapping point along the 90 Feet Road.
The repair work, which is deemed urgent, will require a temporary halt in water supply to affected regions, impacting the regular water flow from both the Thane Municipal Corporation’s supply and the STEM Authority scheme. As a result, residents in a wide swath of the city will experience a complete disruption in their water services for the entire 12-hour period. he list of areas likely to be affected includes prominent localities such as Ghodbunder Road, Lokmanya Nagar, Vartak Nagar, Saket, Rutu Park, Jail, Gandhi Nagar, Rustamjee, Siddhachal, Indiranagar, Rupadevi, Shrinagar, Samata Nagar, Siddheshwar, Eternity, Johnson, and parts of Mumbra and Kalwa. These regions are expected to face significant inconvenience as the shutdown will leave them without water for the entire day.
Municipal officials have advised residents to make arrangements for storing water in advance, as there will be no water supply during the shutdown hours. Authorities have assured that the repair work will be executed as swiftly as possible to minimise the duration of the disruption. However, the scale of the repair suggests that this is a necessary step to maintain the long-term integrity of the water pipeline system. Residents in the affected areas are urged to take precautions, conserve water before the shutdown begins, and remain patient during this period. With water being a critical resource, the corporation’s swift action to repair the pipeline is vital to preventing more severe long-term disruptions.
