Telangana to Build 41.5-km Ratan Tata Road for ₹4,030 Crore

The Telangana government is set to embark on an ambitious road construction project, which promises to revolutionise urban mobility and infrastructure in the region. The Greenfield Radial Road, named after industrial magnate Ratan Tata, will be a 41.5-kilometre route connecting two vital roads: the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at the Tata Interchange in Raviryal and the Regional Ring Road (RRR) at Amangal. With a project cost of ₹4,030 crore, the initiative is expected to bolster connectivity and urban development in the region.

The road will traverse six mandals, namely Maheshwaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Yacharam, Kadthal, and Amangal, passing through 14 villages in the Rangareddy district. This Greenfield project will be executed in two phases. The first phase spans 19.2 km, from the ORR at Raviryal to Meerkhanpet, with an investment of ₹1,665 crore. The second phase, extending 22.3 km from Meerkhanpet to the RRR at Amangal, will cost ₹2,365 crore.
Entrusted to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), the Ratan Tata Road project is designed to be a world-class, eco-friendly transport route. As an access-controlled expressway, it will feature a 3+3 six-lane main carriageway with provisions for future expansion to eight lanes, ensuring it caters to increasing traffic volumes in the future. Moreover, the 100-metre-wide road design will include dedicated service roads, a greenbelt, cycle tracks, footpaths, and utility corridors.

A significant aspect of this project is its commitment to sustainable urban planning. The central median of the road will be reserved for future expansion, potentially accommodating a metro or railway corridor, which will further enhance the region’s long-term mobility. This future-proof design aims to address not only current needs but also the growing demand for urban transportation in a rapidly developing Telangana. The road’s eco-conscious approach extends to its construction phase as well. The HMDA and HGCL have invited bids for the project, and tender documents are set to be released on February 28, with technical bids to be opened on March 21. The project’s modern infrastructure will provide a smoother, more efficient route for daily commuters, as well as enhance the ease of transport for businesses and local residents.

The Ratan Tata Road project is a prime example of how the Telangana government is focusing on improving the state’s infrastructure with an eye on future growth. Not only will it reduce congestion in the growing urban sprawl of Hyderabad, but it will also encourage sustainable, equitable development by linking key commercial and residential areas.
As urban spaces continue to expand, the demand for sustainable and efficient transportation systems becomes even more critical. The Ratan Tata Road project stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to providing its residents with modern, eco-friendly infrastructure while driving growth in key areas. Its integration of future-focused designs ensures that Telangana is ready for the urban challenges of tomorrow.
