Telangana Roads Set for Rs 2 Lakh Cr Investment

The Union government will invest ₹2 lakh crore in Telangana’s road infrastructure over the next three to four years, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced on Monday.

He was speaking at a public event in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district after laying the foundation stone for new projects and inaugurating road works worth ₹3,900 crore. Gadkari noted that the national highway network in Telangana has expanded significantly from 2,500 km to over 5,000 km in the past decade under the BJP-led NDA regime. He emphasised that development works are ongoing across all 33 districts and that ₹1.25 lakh crore worth of projects have already been completed.

“The development you see today is only a glimpse. In the coming years, projects worth ₹2 lakh crore will reshape Telangana’s connectivity and boost its image,” he stated. Gadkari reiterated the Centre’s commitment to the state’s infrastructure growth and called for cooperation from Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his cabinet. He also offered support for water conservation initiatives under the ‘Amrit Sarovar’ scheme and highlighted achievements under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), which has brought road access to 4.5 lakh villages nationwide.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy added that the projects would enhance connectivity between Telangana, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh, creating new opportunities for trade, tourism, and investment.
