Telangana CM Inaugurates Aramghar to Zoo Park Flyover to Ease Traffic and Boost Connectivity

Telangana Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, inaugurated the much-anticipated 4km-long flyover connecting Aramghar to the Nehru Zoological Park on the evening of January 6, 2025. The new six-lane flyover, developed under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), promises to alleviate congestion in one of the city’s busiest corridors. The project, which comes with an investment of ₹799.74 crore, aims to streamline traffic flow for both commuters and public transport, enhancing the travel experience for thousands of people every day.

The inauguration of the flyover was a moment eagerly awaited by many, especially since it was initially scheduled to take place a month earlier during the ‘Praja Palana Vijayotsavalu’ event in December 2024. However, due to unforeseen delays, the opening was postponed to the new year, giving hope to the city’s residents who have long faced traffic challenges in the area.

The Aramghar to Zoo Park flyover is part of Telangana’s broader commitment to improving the city’s infrastructure. Designed to tackle the traffic bottlenecks caused by the large volume of vehicles and buses operating in the region, the flyover will cater to an estimated 2000 buses that leave the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) in Imlibun every day. This includes both TGRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) and private buses servicing diverse routes across the city. For daily commuters, particularly those using public transport, this project marks the beginning of a smoother and more efficient journey. One of the most remarkable features of this project is its ability to directly reduce congestion in densely populated areas surrounding the flyover. Localities such as Aramghar and the Nehru Zoological Park are frequented by not only city residents but also tourists, making them prone to heavy traffic during peak hours. With the new flyover, there will be a more fluid passage for vehicles, especially buses, making daily travel less stressful and time-consuming.

The new flyover is being received positively by the people of Hyderabad, many of whom have long struggled with the chaotic traffic conditions in this stretch. For residents of surrounding localities, the inauguration signifies the government’s focus on solving one of their most pressing concerns. The flyover is expected to significantly reduce commute times, benefiting thousands of office-goers, school children, and tourists who often find themselves stuck in traffic. Moreover, many of Hyderabad’s daily commuters are hopeful that this initiative will set the stage for more road infrastructure projects in other parts of the city. The focus on enhancing public transport infrastructure and ensuring better road conditions aligns with the growing demand for sustainable urban development in the city. Several commuters have expressed their relief at the government’s forward-thinking approach, with some even predicting that this flyover might inspire more such solutions to address Hyderabad’s traffic woes.

In addition to the inauguration of the flyover, the Telangana government also laid the foundation stone for several underpasses and flyovers around the KBR National Park in Jubilee Hills, continuing their focus on resolving traffic issues across the city. These projects, aimed at improving connectivity and traffic management, are expected to further complement the Aramghar to Zoo Park flyover. As Hyderabad continues to expand and grow, the government’s efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure are more crucial than ever. The Aramghar to Zoo Park flyover is just one of many steps taken to address Hyderabad’s evolving transportation needs, with more initiatives planned for the future. For now, residents and commuters alike can look forward to a more efficient and less congested daily commute. The inauguration of the Aramghar to Zoo Park flyover marks a new chapter in Hyderabad’s infrastructure development. With the successful completion of this ₹799.74 crore project, the Telangana government is not only addressing current traffic issues but also setting a solid foundation for future urban growth and connectivity. The people of Hyderabad are optimistic that this is just the beginning of a much-needed transformation in their city’s transport infrastructure.
