Technical Issue Disrupts Western Railway Suburban Services Between Virar and Vasai
Mumbai: Western Railway’s suburban train services were disrupted on Tuesday afternoon due to a technical issue affecting the up fast line between Virar and Vasai. The disruption caused significant delays for both AC and non-AC local trains operating on the route. The problem arose when a portion of the track on the up fast line showed changes in its dimensions, prompting a swift response from railway authorities. Sources revealed that the issue was identified during routine maintenance work around 1:10 pm on the same day.
In response to the technical malfunction, a special traffic block was implemented for a 50-minute period to resolve the problem. During this time, all up fast line trains were diverted to the up slow line to ensure continued operations. Despite the diversion, the disruption led to delays in the movement of trains. A senior official from Western Railway confirmed that the issue was addressed within the block period, allowing normal services to resume soon after. “The problem was resolved during the block period, and train services were back to normal shortly thereafter,” the officer stated.
This incident follows another disruption on the Central Railway line, where operations were affected in the afternoon due to an external issue near Diva station. However, details of that disruption remain separate from the one on the Western Railway line. While the issue was rectified promptly, the incident highlights the vulnerability of suburban train services in Mumbai to unforeseen technical issues, which can lead to passenger inconvenience during peak hours. As Western Railway continues to maintain its infrastructure, commuters are advised to stay updated on real-time services to avoid any delays.
