Tata Power Signs 25-Year Green Energy Deal with Noida Airport

Tata Power has signed a landmark 25-year agreement with Noida International Airport (NIA) to provide renewable energy solutions for its operations. This collaboration, which involves an investment of ₹550 crore, highlights Tata Power’s continued commitment to driving India’s green energy revolution, particularly in the rapidly expanding infrastructure sector.

Under this agreement, Tata Power will manage the renewable energy portfolio for NIA, ensuring that the airport’s clean energy requirements are fully met. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) includes the supply of 10.8 MW of wind power sourced from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL). The agreement also covers the provision of smart energy infrastructure and dry utilities, which are essential for supporting the airport’s operations in an environmentally sustainable manner. CEO and MD of Tata Power, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “Tata Power is proud to partner with Noida International Airport to pioneer renewable energy integration. As India’s aviation sector expands, we are leading the charge in providing innovative clean energy solutions. This collaboration is a step towards building Net Zero Airports and will accelerate India’s transition to a greener future.”

This partnership also reflects Tata Power’s strategic vision of providing large-scale, sustainable energy solutions that cater to the country’s growing infrastructure needs. With India projected to add more than 200 new airports in the next two decades, integrating green energy solutions into airport development has never been more urgent. The Noida International Airport is set to be a hub for millions of passengers in the coming decades. The initial phase of the airport, expected to handle 12 million passengers annually, is just the beginning. Once completed, the airport will have a capacity to serve up to 70 million passengers per year. By ensuring that the airport operates on renewable energy, Tata Power is playing a critical role in reducing the carbon footprint of one of the most energy-intensive industries—aviation.

Sustainability, however, is not just about reducing emissions. It is about creating a cleaner, more energy-efficient future for generations to come. With the commitment to supply wind and solar energy to one of India’s most promising infrastructure projects, Tata Power is setting an example for other sectors to follow. This is a partnership that goes beyond business; it is about shaping the future of India’s sustainable growth while meeting the needs of a rapidly urbanising nation. For the citizens of Noida and beyond, this agreement is more than just a business deal. It is a testament to what is possible when innovation and sustainability converge. As India continues to scale its green energy capacity, such collaborations will play a pivotal role in meeting the country’s ambitious environmental goals.
