As Diwali approaches, Ahmedabad’s corporate gifting market is undergoing a notable shift, reflecting the region’s appetite for grandeur and meaningful gifting. The Diwali gifting market in Gujarat, especially in Ahmedabad, is expected to surpass Rs 3,000 crore, ranking it among India’s top five corporate gifting hubs. Industry experts project a 20% growth in this segment over last year, as companies increasingly gravitate towards personalised and sustainable gift choices. With budgets ranging from Rs 500 to as high as Rs 15,000, firms are opting for high-quality, eco-friendly gifts that cater to high-value clients, top-tier executives, and business affiliates.
The gifting market has seen a diversification, with dry fruits, gourmet snacks, and premium chocolates accounting for nearly 60% of the volume. However, eco-conscious items such as reusable bottles, wellness kits, and customised pens have surged in demand, appealing to companies aiming to reflect sustainability in their branding. Luxury tech gadgets like premium cameras and portable speakers are also being offered to top clients, marking a move away from traditional gifts. According to the chairman of the Corporate Gifts Association of India, practical items have outpaced decorative showpieces, driven by a preference for gifts that recipients can use in daily life.
Adding a unique cultural touch, local companies and high-end hotels have created gift hampers that showcase traditional delicacies and artisanal goods. A Gandhinagar hotel’s Diwali hamper, for instance, features a selection of dates ma’amoul, honey-infused seeds, and eco-friendly incense sticks sourced from local enterprises committed to upcycling. In a nod to Ahmedabad’s love for tea, a homegrown brand has released artisanal teas, including options like white tea and Kashmiri kahwa green, all presented in festive packaging.
Sustainability is a defining trend in this year’s gifting scene. Many companies are choosing packaging made from handmade paper and using eco-friendly materials, indicating a shift towards a more eco-conscious approach to festive gifting. With the increased presence of brands aligning with this demand, the focus on sustainability is evident. Despite the market’s growth, some sectors facing cash constraints have postponed gifting plans, shifting their focus to year-end gifting.
Ahmedabad’s Diwali gifting industry exemplifies how corporate culture is evolving to embrace sustainability without compromising on style or quality. This season, corporate gifting has transformed into a blend of aesthetics, responsibility, and cultural pride, cementing its place as an integral part of Ahmedabad’s festive economy.
