Surat Tops Super Swachh League 2025 Setting New Cleanliness Benchmarks
Surat city has achieved the top position among 4,900 cities in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, securing an impressive 12,151 out of 12,500 marks in the Super Swachh League. This remarkable performance places Surat ahead of other major metropolitan areas, with Indore earning 12,147 marks and Navi Mumbai scoring 12,074 marks in the same category. The Super Swachh League specifically recognizes cities with a population exceeding 10 lakh for their consistent excellence in urban cleanliness.
The Super Swachh League is a newly introduced category under the Swachh Survekshan framework, designed to honor cities that have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in previous cleanliness surveys. Cities are grouped based on their population, ensuring fair competition. Surat’s achievement was officially recognized at the Swachh Survey Inter-Award Ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on July 17. The city received the award for its outstanding performance directly from the President of India.
Officials from the Surat Municipal Corporation confirmed the city’s top ranking on Tuesday, highlighting the comprehensive efforts in waste management and sanitation that led to this success.
