Submit Grievances for Navi Mumbai’s LokShahi Din by Feb 17
Navi Mumbai residents now have an opportunity to directly voice their concerns to the city’s municipal administration at the upcoming LokShahi Din (Democracy Day) on March 3, 2025. Organised by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), this monthly event is aimed at fostering transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in the civic governance process.
It provides a direct platform for individuals to air their grievances and issues that have remained unaddressed by the municipal departments. Interested citizens are required to submit their grievance applications by February 17, 2025. The applications must follow a prescribed format, which includes two copies of the application addressed to the Commissioner, with the subject line “Application for LokShahi Din” clearly visible on the front page. While applicants are encouraged to raise issues concerning a specific department, the NMMC has outlined certain restrictions: complaints that are sub judice, related to revenue appeals, or employment and service establishment matters will not be entertained.
The LokShahi Din aims to be a conduit for those who have been unable to resolve their issues through regular channels, offering a forum to directly engage with municipal officials. The initiative is a part of the state’s ongoing efforts to promote citizen-centric governance, allowing people to raise matters that may not have been effectively addressed by the concerned authorities. For ease of access, the application form is available free of charge at the NMMC’s Public Relations Department. It can also be downloaded from the NMMC’s official website at nmmconline.in under the “Quick Links” section. This move is expected to streamline the grievance submission process and ensure that residents have a chance to raise their concerns in an organised manner. The event provides a significant opportunity for the people of Navi Mumbai to engage directly with local administration and seek resolutions to unresolved civic issues, further promoting transparency and accountability within the municipal framework.
