Colorado’s picturesque Steamboat Springs is welcoming a fresh take on hospitality with the official opening of The Fold, a reimagined hotel that blends conscious travel with contemporary comfort.
Developed and operated by andCo Hospitality, the newly renovated property introduces a unique model for sustainable tourism in the mountain town, positioning itself as a flagship for what the company calls a “better-for-all” travel experience. The 60-suite hotel, formerly known as Steamboat Springs Suites, has undergone a comprehensive redesign that reflects andCo Hospitality’s commitment to environmental and community-based values. The Fold now stands as a Certified B Corporation—an elite designation awarded to businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental impact, corporate transparency, and legal accountability.
In keeping with B Corp principles, sustainability is not a feature but a framework embedded in every aspect of the hotel. From its upcycled furniture dating back to the 1920s in the lobby to energy-efficient infrastructure and waste reduction protocols, The Fold is a model for regenerative hospitality. Public relations spokesperson Lorin Augeri described the hotel as having “eco-friendly touches in every room,” including water-saving fixtures and recycling systems.
To further limit its carbon footprint, andCo is purchasing verified carbon offsets across all its properties and is exploring solar partnerships, both on-site and with city-run solar farms, as part of its long-term goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The Fold also incorporates community-supportive business practices such as living wage policies for its employees and programmes that promote local economic participation.
Beyond sustainability, the hotel offers practical luxury designed for today’s conscious traveller. Each suite includes a fully-equipped kitchen—ideal for families or longer stays—while the brand philosophy encourages guests to immerse themselves in the local economy. “They want to make it easy for guests to get out into the neighbourhood,” said Augeri, citing partnerships with local galleries, restaurants, and breweries that enhance the circular economy of Steamboat Springs. The Fold is part of a broader evolution at andCo Hospitality, which recently restructured its brand portfolio to include Legacy Vacation Resorts, The Local, and The Fold under one vision.
With eight properties nationwide and plans to revamp its second Steamboat Springs hotel—the 58-room Hilltop resort—this summer, the company is scaling a hospitality model that integrates environmental consciousness, local identity, and tech-enabled convenience. As climate concerns reshape travel expectations, andCo’s push towards lower-impact lodgings demonstrates how hospitality firms can lead by example. The Fold is more than a boutique hotel; it is a blueprint for sustainable living stitched into the fabric of the tourism industry. Whether it’s carbon offsets or compostable amenities, each decision has been made with future generations in mind—without compromising guest experience.
In a time when tourism is under pressure to become more accountable, this quiet corner of Colorado now offers travellers a stay that reflects a larger commitment to the planet, the people, and the places they visit.
