The Maharashtra government convened a high-level meeting with senior officers of the armed forces and key security agencies.
The primary objective was to ensure seamless coordination and bolster preparedness in the face of potential security threats. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressing the gathering, reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to working in close tandem with the armed forces, emphasising the criticality of effective intelligence sharing and the strategic deployment of advanced technologies.  The deliberations, held on Monday, encompassed a broad spectrum of security concerns, including the exchange of vital intelligence data, the optimal utilisation of technological resources, and the implementation of robust precautionary measures. A central focus of the discussions was the establishment of a streamlined coordination mechanism to facilitate seamless cooperation between various security agencies and the state government. This collaborative approach underscores the recognition that a unified and well-coordinated response is essential to safeguarding the state’s interests and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
Chief Minister Fadnavis lauded the exemplary execution of Operation Sindoor by the armed forces, commending their strength and precision in carrying out the operation. He acknowledged the strategic importance of Mumbai as the state’s financial capital, highlighting the heightened security considerations that accompany its status. In this context, he stressed the paramount importance of efficient intelligence sharing and the need for stringent measures to safeguard against potential cyber security threats. Â The meeting witnessed the participation of a distinguished panel of senior officials, including Indian Army’s General Officer Commanding (GOC) for Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa Area, Lieutenant General Pawan Chadha; Navy’s Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA), Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi; and Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Vice Marshal Rajat Mohan. Representatives from critical institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and Home Guards also contributed to the discussions, underscoring the collaborative nature of the state’s security framework.
The presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Maharashtra Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla and Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, further underscored the high-level commitment to strengthening the state’s security infrastructure. The collective expertise and insights of these senior officials from various domains contributed to a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the prevailing security landscape and the necessary steps to enhance preparedness.
