Southern Railway Extends Tirunelveli Train Till June 30
In a move aimed at continuing travel convenience for passengers in Tamil Nadu, the Southern Railway’s Salem Division has announced an extension of the service period for the weekly Mettupalayam–Tirunelveli special train.
According to the revised schedule, Train No. 06030 Tirunelveli Junction–Mettupalayam Weekly Special, which departs from Tirunelveli Junction at 7:00 p.m. every Sunday and arrives at Mettupalayam at 7:30 a.m. the following Monday, will continue to operate from June 8 to June 29, 2025. Similarly, the return service, Train No. 06029 Mettupalayam–Tirunelveli Junction Weekly Special, departing Mettupalayam at 7:45 p.m. every Monday and arriving at Tirunelveli Junction at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, has been extended to run from June 9 to June 30, 2025.
The railway authorities have taken this step in view of continued demand for the route, which connects two major regions of the state and supports both local travel and tourism. Passengers are encouraged to check availability and book their tickets in advance through official railway platforms or IRCTC. There are no changes to the route, stops, or timings apart from the extended operation period.
This announcement follows Southern Railway’s ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity and ease travel congestion during busy months.
