solar technology company Emmvee has inaugurated its fifth production facility in Karnataka. Located near Bengaluru International Airport in Sulibele,
the plant adds nearly 2.0 gigawatts peak (GWp) of solar module capacity, boosting the company’s total to approximately 6.6 GWp in modules and 2.5 GWp in solar cells.
The newly opened unit spans close to 4 lakh square feet and is designed to meet growing domestic and international demand for high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) modules. With a strategic focus on automation and advanced manufacturing systems, the facility marks a significant investment in both clean energy and high-skilled employment. Over 500 new jobs are expected to be created across engineering, operations, and administration, reinforcing the company’s workforce which already exceeds 2,000.
Emmvee’s expansion arrives at a critical time for India’s solar energy sector, which has surpassed 105 GW in installed capacity, underscoring its vital role in the nation’s clean energy transition. The company’s move is seen as a step forward in supporting India’s ambition to become self-reliant in solar manufacturing while also contributing to global decarbonisation targets.According to the company’s leadership, the new plant represents more than just an increase in volume. It is a leap in technological sophistication, with production lines equipped for multiple module sizes, advanced quality control systems, and smart automation processes. This adaptability will enable Emmvee to cater to diverse market requirements and fast-changing industry standards.
The scale-up also reflects a broader shift in India’s solar landscape—from dependency on imports to becoming a competitive global manufacturing hub. Government incentives under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and other Make in India initiatives have encouraged companies like Emmvee to invest in domestic manufacturing capabilities that not only reduce reliance on global supply chains but also improve product quality and delivery timelines.Located close to a major logistics hub, the new plant positions Emmvee advantageously for both export and regional distribution, aligning with its long-term growth strategy. The facility is expected to play a key role in meeting increasing demand from utility-scale solar projects, commercial installations, and international buyers looking for reliable and sustainable supply partners. In a market where solar power is not only a clean alternative but also an economically competitive option, Emmvee’s expansion demonstrates how Indian industry can be at the forefront of green innovation. The facility reinforces the message that solar manufacturing in India is not only scaling up—it is becoming smarter, faster, and more resilient.
