Senior law enforcement officials conducted a ground-level review of security preparedness in regions impacted by cross-border shelling, reaffirming their commitment to civilian safety and operational readiness.In a high-level inspection carried out on Sunday, district and range-level officers toured critical installations near the International Border and Line of Control, including highways, bridges, and railway networks. The move follows a series of mortar attacks over the past fortnight that inflicted structural damage and fuelled concern among border communities.The strategic inspection covered sensitive locations across Samba and Kathua districts—areas that have long borne the brunt of cross-border hostilities. Officials reported extensive on-site reviews of existing security mechanisms, with additional focus on rapid response capability, civil-military coordination, and public outreach.
Law enforcement authorities emphasised that the objective is not only to deter potential incursions but also to reassure local residents through visible, proactive engagement.
