Indian Railways is set to revolutionize overnight travel with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train service between Secunderabad and New Delhi.
This new service aims to provide passengers with a faster, more comfortable alternative to existing overnight trains. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is designed to offer a superior travel experience. With a top speed of 160 km/h, it is expected to reduce the travel time between Secunderabad and Delhi by approximately 3–4 hours compared to current services like the Rajdhani and Duronto Express, which take 22–24 hours to cover the 1,700 km distance. The train will feature 16 fully air-conditioned coaches, including 11 AC three-tier, four AC two-tier, and one AC first-class coach, collectively offering 823 passenger berths.
Passengers can look forward to a range of modern amenities aboard the Vande Bharat Sleeper train. Each coach will be equipped with USB charging ports, reading lights, and ample luggage space. The train will also feature touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, ergonomic berths with cushioned mattresses, and advanced HVAC systems to ensure a comfortable journey. Additionally, the train will include dedicated spaces for differently-abled passengers, enhancing accessibility for all travelers. Safety is a paramount concern in the design of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train. The train will be equipped with advanced safety features, including the indigenously developed Kavach Train Collision Avoidance System, crash-worthy design elements, and fire detection systems that comply with international safety standards. These measures aim to provide passengers with a secure travel experience.
