Mahindra Logistics Limited has appointed Sandeep Kulkarni as its new Head Fleet Businesses and Purchasing, signalling a pivotal leadership transition at a time when the company is accelerating its strategy toward sustainable and scalable logistics solutions.
The appointment, effective from April 17, 2025, was formally approved by the Board of Directors, following the endorsement of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Kulkarni, a seasoned professional with over two decades of leadership across retail, e-commerce, and logistics sectors, brings a depth of operational expertise and industry foresight. He has previously held key roles at Allcargo Logistics, Tata CLiQ, Jio Mart, Amazon Fresh, and L&T Infotech, and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer at Allcargo Logistics. Starting his career with the Indian Navy, Kulkarni’s trajectory combines military precision with private-sector agility, making him well-positioned to drive Mahindra Logistics’ fleet transformation agenda.
This leadership induction comes amid an organisational realignment aimed at enhancing functional agility and governance within Mahindra Logistics. As part of this shift, Vishal Sharma, who currently serves as Vice President – Transportation and Procurement, will step down from his designation as a Senior Management Personnel but will continue in his current operational role. Mahindra Logistics, a key player in India’s third-party logistics (3PL) space and a Mahindra Group subsidiary, is known for its asset-light business model. The company leverages a vast partner network to deliver transportation, warehousing, in-factory logistics, and last-mile delivery across industries including automotive, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and engineering.
The inclusion of Kulkarni in the leadership suite signals a deeper push toward innovation in fleet operations, especially as the company eyes significant growth. With a publicly stated ambition to become a ₹10,000 crore entity by FY2026 and rank among the top ten global logistics players by 2030, Mahindra Logistics is undergoing a transformative phase. The new leadership is expected to guide the company through this evolution, particularly in the areas of electric vehicle integration, digitalisation of supply chains, and intelligent procurement systems. In October 2024, the company unveiled a new brand identity, aimed at reflecting its commitment to tech-enabled growth and environmental responsibility. This rebranding aligns with India’s expanding focus on green mobility and climate-conscious urban development. Under Kulkarni’s stewardship, Mahindra Logistics’ fleet arm is expected to align more closely with these priorities by optimising fleet operations for reduced emissions and increased efficiency.
Kulkarni holds a BE in Electrical Engineering from Mumbai University and has completed advanced management programmes from IIM Lucknow, Nanyang Business School (Singapore), Wharton (USA), and MIT Sloan (USA)—bringing global management insights to a domestic logistics landscape in flux. In parallel with its business ambitions, Mahindra Logistics continues to invest in corporate social responsibility, with programmes focused on community development, skills training, and environmental sustainability. These efforts are anchored in the company’s purpose: “Accelerating Commerce, Empowering Communities to Rise.”
As Indian cities move toward zero-carbon, equitable, and digitally enabled infrastructure, logistics providers like Mahindra Logistics are expected to play a critical role. The appointment of Sandeep Kulkarni may well be the catalyst for the company’s next chapter—one that is not only driven by numbers but also aligned with the future of responsible urban mobility and inclusive economic growth.
