Pune: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has successfully completed essential repair work on the road linking Sancheti Chowk with Pune University Chowk. This project was undertaken in response to significant road damage caused by recent rains, which led to severe potholes and driving hazards.
In a statement, a PMRDA spokesperson highlighted that the road had deteriorated due to the monsoon, causing considerable inconvenience for drivers. Following these issues, Metropolitan Commissioner Mhase convened a meeting with relevant authorities, inspected the affected areas, and issued directives for immediate repairs. The repair work was carried out by engineers from Pune IT City Metro Line (PITCMRL) and PMRDA, with the road being fully addressed over the weekend.
The road repair process involved several key steps. Initially, the road surface was levelled and cleaned. This was followed by filling potholes, asphalting, and concreting to restore the road’s functionality. For these tasks, retired Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary Mandpe was appointed through PITCMRL. PMRDA officials also indicated that future repairs and improvements would be executed in phases as needed to ensure long-term road quality and durability. This comprehensive road repair effort underscores the PMRDA’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and addressing transportation challenges effectively. The completion of these repairs is expected to alleviate traffic issues and improve the overall driving experience between Sancheti Chowk and Pune University Chowk.
