The ongoing traffic congestion at Sanathal Junction, a critical passage between Ahmedabad and Saurashtra, is set to ease following the resolution of a long-standing land dispute between the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The expansion of the Ahmedabad-Bavla-Bagodara National Highway, which had been delayed for years due to this dispute, is now back on track. The dispute was resolved when AMC agreed to hand over 20,958 square metres of land, located on two service roads under its Town Planning (TP) schemes, to NHAI. With this transfer, valued at ₹1 lakh per square metre, AMC is set to earn ₹209.58 crore. The land was essential for widening the road section between Ujala Circle and Navapura in Sarkhej from 45 metres to 70 metres, allowing for the construction of service lanes and an extradosed bridge.
