RVNL wins Rs 447.42 cr DMRC Phase‑IV contract for 7.3 km viaduct, stations

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has clinched a pivotal contract valued at ₹447.42 crore from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for a crucial segment of the Delhi MRTS Phase-IV project. This significant undertaking involves the part design and construction of a 7.298-kilometre viaduct, alongside the development of platforms for seven new metro stations, marking a substantial stride towards enhancing the capital’s sustainable urban mobility infrastructure.

The contract encompasses the construction of platforms at key locations including Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, GK-1, Andrews Ganj, and Lajpat Nagar. These stations, along with their pre-engineered building structures, are integral to the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-block corridor, promising to significantly expand Delhi’s robust public transport network. The project’s ambitious timeline targets completion within 36 months, underscoring the urgency and strategic importance of bolstering the city’s transit capabilities.

This infrastructure development is poised to play a transformative role in Delhi’s urban landscape, directly contributing to the city’s aspirations for a zero net carbon future. By extending the reach of the metro system, the project encourages a paradigm shift from private vehicle reliance to mass public transit. This transition is critical for reducing vehicular emissions, mitigating air pollution, and ultimately lowering the city’s overall carbon footprint, aligning perfectly with eco-friendly urban planning principles.

Moreover, the expansion of the metro network fosters the development of more equitable and gender-neutral cities. Enhanced connectivity ensures that all citizens, irrespective of their socio-economic background or gender, have safe, affordable, and efficient access to employment hubs, educational institutions, and essential services. The strategic placement of new stations in densely populated areas will unlock new opportunities and improve daily commutes for thousands, thereby promoting social inclusion and economic equity across the capital.

For RVNL, securing this high-value contract from DMRC reinforces its position as a key player in India’s infrastructure development narrative. It highlights the company’s technical prowess and capacity to execute large-scale, complex urban projects that are vital for modern metropolitan growth. The successful completion of such projects not only boosts the company’s order book but also contributes significantly to national development goals focused on creating smart, sustainable, and resilient urban centres.

The Delhi Metro’s ongoing expansion, exemplified by this Phase-IV segment, is a testament to India’s commitment to building world-class public transportation systems. These projects are not merely about laying tracks and constructing stations; they are about laying the groundwork for a healthier, more accessible, and environmentally conscious urban future. The strategic investment in such sustainable infrastructure is paramount for Delhi to continue its trajectory as a leading global city, balancing rapid urbanisation with ecological responsibility.
