Rs 400 crore corridor to link Greater Noida to DME

The Greater Noida Authority has approved a Rs 400 crore elevated corridor to link Sector 4 in Greater Noida with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in Noida Extension and Ghaziabad.

Spanning approximately four kilometres, the elevated road will start from the 130-metre-wide road in Sector 4 and pass through Shahberi and Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad before merging with the expressway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been tasked with executing the project, given its recent track record in land acquisition and highway construction. The project will be jointly funded by Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad authorities. Officials confirmed that preliminary approvals have been granted, following rising concerns over the growing vehicular load in the region. The corridor is expected to provide a seamless route for daily commuters, reducing delays and easing bottlenecks at key intersections.

Noida Extension and Crossings Republik—areas known for their high-density residential projects—have long struggled with poor connectivity despite their proximity to major road networks. The lack of direct access to the expressway has resulted in frequent traffic jams, especially during peak hours. Authorities believe the new elevated link will offer long-term relief. “The corridor will ensure uninterrupted flow for thousands of commuters each day and significantly decongest the existing routes,” said an official familiar with the plan. Land acquisition is expected to proceed smoothly through Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad districts, given NHAI’s previous experience with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway development.

With demand for affordable housing rising and the need for better infrastructure mounting, the corridor is being seen as a critical step in bridging the urban connectivity gap in the National Capital Region.
