Rs 105 crore AI training hub to come up in Raigad Roha MIDC

A ₹105 crore Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) will be established in Roha MIDC, Raigad district, offering advanced technical and AI-based training to nearly 3,000 youth annually.

The initiative is a public-private partnership between Tata Technologies and the Maharashtra government aimed at upskilling the local workforce and boosting industrial growth in the Konkan region. Of the total project cost, Tata Technologies will contribute ₹89.25 crore, while the remaining ₹16 crore will be jointly funded by the state and district administration. According to an official involved in the project, Tata Technologies will fully fund training operations for the first three years. From the fourth year onwards, expenses will be shared equally with the district administration. The Roha CIIIT marks the fourth such centre sanctioned in Maharashtra in the last four months, following recent approvals in Beed, Nanded, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The proposal for the Raigad centre was swiftly cleared within four months of submission by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, reflecting the state’s urgency in strengthening its technical education infrastructure.

Located in an industrial zone, the CIIIT is expected to bridge the skill gap by aligning youth training with current industry requirements. Officials say the centre will not only supply skilled manpower to local businesses but also promote self-employment and startup development in the region. “The initiative aims to equip young people with future-ready skills in AI and emerging technologies, enabling them to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals across sectors,” said an official from the district administration.

As part of Maharashtra’s broader strategy to promote regional industrialisation and education-driven development, the CIIITs are emerging as key instruments to make youth employment-ready while reinforcing the state’s appeal to private investment in technology and manufacturing.
