The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given the nod for a substantial investment of Rs 2,675.31 crore to facilitate the four-laning of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur stretch on National Highway-748A. This transformative project spans a length of 92.40 km, strategically located in Bagalkot and Belgavi districts of Karnataka.
The initiative will be executed on a hybrid annuity basis, marking a significant advancement in the road infrastructure of the region. The ambitious undertaking holds crucial importance as it forms an integral part of the Panaji-Hyderabad EC10 corridor. The EC10 corridor serves as a lifeline connecting key industrial hubs, encompassing Panaji, celebrated for its fisheries and tourism sector; Belgavi, renowned for its production of food grains and dairy products; Raichur, recognised for its significant contributions to the cultivation of rice, cotton, groundnut, and pulses; and Hyderabad, distinguished as a prominent centre for IT, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare. The sanctioned funds will be instrumental in transforming the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur section, elevating its infrastructure to meet the demands of modern connectivity. The four-laning initiative not only promises enhanced road quality but also facilitates smoother and more efficient transportation along this vital stretch.
