Revolutionary Move Bajaj Auto to Launch CNG Bike in India

In a ground-breaking move, Bajaj Auto, one of India’s leading motorcycle manufacturers, has announced the imminent launch of the country’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered motorcycle.

According to Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, the innovative two-wheeler is slated to hit the market in June, marking a significant milestone in India’s automotive industry. The new CNG bike, anticipated to fall within the 100-125cc segment, is strategically aimed at catering to mileage-conscious consumers seeking cost-effective and eco-friendly transportation solutions. It is poised to be introduced under a new brand name, signalling Bajaj Auto’s commitment to pioneering sustainable mobility options. One of the key distinguishing features of the CNG-powered motorcycle is its dual-fuel capability, offering customers the flexibility to switch between petrol and CNG fuel options. This innovation not only enhances convenience for riders but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner energy alternatives.

However, prospective buyers should expect the CNG bike to be priced higher than its petrol counterparts, owing to the increased manufacturing costs associated with integrating CNG technology. Despite the initial investment, the running cost of the CNG motorcycle is anticipated to be significantly lower, offering a compelling value proposition for consumers in the same engine size segment. The introduction of India’s first CNG-powered motorcycle marks a significant leap forward in the country’s automotive landscape, reflecting a growing emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship. Bajaj Auto’s foray into the CNG segment underscores its commitment to innovation and reinforces its position as a trailblazer in the Indian motorcycle market. As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards greener alternatives, Bajaj Auto’s pioneering initiative is poised to set a new standard for eco-friendly transportation solutions in India. With its combination of efficiency, affordability, and environmental sustainability, the CNG-powered motorcycle is poised to revolutionise the way Indians commute, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.

“The government has done a good job in expanding CNG pump network and people are adopting CNG vehicles where there is availability of the fuel. Carmakers like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are selling CNG vehicles in good number,” said Bajaj while announcing Bajaj Group’s commitment of `5,000 crore towards CSR spent over the next 5 years.
