Rajdhani Express to Stop at Diphu Station in Assam

The Union Ministry of Railways has approved a daily stoppage of the 12423/12424 New Delhi–Dibrugarh Town Rajdhani Express at Diphu Railway Station.

This decision marks a milestone in enhancing the region’s connectivity and infrastructure. Diphu, the administrative headquarters of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, has long been underserved by direct rail services. Despite its strategic location on the Lumding–Dibrugarh main line, key trains bypassed the station, compelling passengers to travel to distant junctions like Dimapur or Lumding for boarding. The new stoppage aims to alleviate these challenges, providing residents with direct access to one of India’s premier trains.

The Rajdhani Express, known for its speed and comfort, will now halt at Diphu, offering passengers a convenient and efficient travel option to and from the national capital. This initiative is expected to stimulate economic activities in the region, promote tourism, and improve access to essential services. In addition to the Rajdhani Express, other trains such as the Kamrup Express, Brahmaputra Mail, and Jan Shatabdi Express also serve Diphu, underscoring the station’s growing importance in Assam’s rail network.

Local authorities and residents have welcomed the decision, viewing it as a catalyst for regional development. The enhanced connectivity is anticipated to foster greater integration of Karbi Anglong with the rest of Assam and beyond, facilitating trade, education, and healthcare access. The approval of the Rajdhani Express stoppage at Diphu is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and connectivity in underserved regions. It reflects a broader strategy to ensure equitable development across the country, addressing the needs of remote and marginalized communities.

As the railway ministry continues to invest in the modernization of rail infrastructure, the Diphu initiative serves as a model for similar projects in other parts of India. By prioritizing connectivity and accessibility, the government aims to create a more inclusive and integrated transportation network that supports sustainable economic growth and social development. This development in Diphu is not just a win for the region but also a step forward in India’s journey towards building a more connected and equitable society. The positive impact on local communities is expected to resonate for years to come, fostering a sense of inclusion and progress among residents.
