Industry experts have lauded this surge in footfall, particularly considering the impressive growth rates witnessed in previous years, with a staggering 66% increase in 2023 and nearly 400% surge in 2022. In 2023 alone, Rajasthan saw over 18 crore tourist visits, showcasing the state’s immense potential as a premier tourism destination.
An official from the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan highlighted the unprecedented growth in tourist arrivals, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and reflecting the robustness of the state’s tourism infrastructure. With substantial investments pouring into the sector, including the development of hotels and resorts, the industry is poised for further expansion and prosperity.
While domestic tourists continue to be the primary drivers of growth, the resurgence in international visitors is adding momentum to the upward trend. Despite the pandemic-induced disruptions, Rajasthan witnessed a revival in foreign tourist arrivals, surpassing pre-pandemic figures in 2023. This resurgence in international tourism is expected to complement the domestic influx and bolster the sector’s resilience.
Additionally, the wedding tourism segment is anticipated to play a significant role in driving tourism growth in Rajasthan. With increasing focus on destination weddings, especially after Prime Minister Modi’s endorsement, the state aims to capitalize on its rich cultural heritage and exquisite venues to attract couples from across the globe.
