Rajasthan’s border districts have been placed on high alert. The incidents have prompted the implementation of stringent security measures, including extended blackouts and the cancellation of train services, to safeguard residents and critical infrastructure.
On Thursday night, multiple drone incursions were reported in Jaisalmer, which were successfully intercepted by the Indian armed forces. These events have led to heightened vigilance across border districts such as Barmer, Sriganganagar, Bikaner, and Phalodi. Authorities have extended blackout hours in these regions, with markets in Jaisalmer and Barmer closing at 5 PM and power outages enforced from 6 PM to 6 AM. Public programs have been suspended, and police have intensified vehicle checks to monitor any suspicious activities. In Sriganganagar, restrictions have been placed on lighting and the use of DJs during wedding ceremonies and religious events.
Educational institutions, including colleges, coaching centers, and libraries, have been closed in Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Bikaner until further notice. Hostels in Bikaner have also been vacated as a precautionary measure. The state government has canceled all leaves for its employees and allocated additional funds to border districts for emergency procurement. An all-party meeting has been scheduled to address the situation, and ministers have been directed to oversee developments in their respective districts. The North Western Railways has announced the cancellation of four trains and the rescheduling of five others in Rajasthan. Trains to and from Munabao, a village near the international border, are among those affected. Railway officials stated that these measures are precautionary, considering the blackout and emergency conditions prevailing in the border areas.
