Rajasthan CM To Discuss Urban Energy Projects With Centre

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will meet Union Minister for Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi on Thursday to accelerate a series of key infrastructure and energy initiatives across the state.

The high-level meeting signals a renewed push for coordinated governance between the Centre and state under the “double engine” model, with a focus on fast-tracking urban mobility, clean energy, and sustainable development in Rajasthan. Accompanying the Chief Minister will be top bureaucrats including Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra and Urban Development and Housing Secretary Vaibhav Galaria. Key discussions will centre around Jaipur Metro Phase-2, the expansion of electric bus services, smart battery storage systems, and urban development projects under the NCR Planning Board. The proposed Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project is set to transform intra-city transport. The 42.80-kilometre corridor, with 36 stations—34 elevated and 2 underground—will connect Todi Mode to Prahladpura, enhancing north-south city links.

Major hubs such as Jaipur International Airport, VKI and Sitapura industrial areas, Vidyadhar Nagar, SMS Hospital, and the proposed interstate bus terminal will fall along the route. With an estimated investment of ₹12,260 crore, the project is expected to be jointly financed by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation, a central-state joint venture, will oversee its implementation and future metro expansions. The meeting will also cover the rollout of electric buses and the integration of smart battery storage systems to modernise public transport. Urban development proposals within the NCR region are likely to receive special focus as the state attempts to align with national goals on climate resilience and infrastructure upgrades.

These initiatives are expected to significantly impact Rajasthan’s urban landscape, with improved connectivity, greener energy use, and enhanced liveability.
