The Railway Board has announced a major change in train operations between Udaipur and Kolkata, with effect from July 31, 2025.
The long-standing halt at Agra Fort Station will be shifted to Idgah Agra Junction, located approximately 3 km away, citing technical reasons behind the shift. The move impacts two key trains on the route. From the effective date, the Kolkata–Udaipur City train will halt at Idgah Station at 10:05 AM and depart at 10:10 AM. The return Udaipur City–Kolkata train, scheduled to depart on August 4, will arrive at 2:50 PM and depart at 3:00 PM from Idgah. Railway officials clarified that this is part of a broader operational restructuring involving five pairs of trains, including routes such as Howrah–Jodhpur, Howrah–Bikaner, and Muzaffarpur–Sabarmati. The objective is to streamline train movement and improve overall network efficiency.
In a separate update aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, the Khajuraho–Udaipur City Express has been granted a temporary experimental halt at Orchha Station, beginning May 30. The halt is introduced to assess passenger demand and feasibility. As per the new timetable, the train will arrive at Orchha at 2:23 PM and depart at 2:25 PM. On the return journey, the train will reach at 1:00 PM and leave at 1:02 PM. The Railway Board stated that these adjustments will be monitored closely, and further decisions will depend on passenger feedback and operational assessments.
Travellers are advised to check revised schedules and plan their journeys accordingly.
